Swiss energy company BKW has recently acquired three new wind farms in Sweden from Eolus, a leading wind power developer. The wind farms, named Skallberget/Utterberget, Tjärnäs, and Rosenskog, were completed and handed over to BKW, marking a significant step in advancing renewable energy.
Located in the southern Sweden municipalities of Avesta, Hedemora, and Falköping, these farms feature 19 turbines in total. They boast an impressive combined capacity of 125 megawatts (MW) and are expected to generate 330 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of clean energy each year. This energy production highlights a move towards more sustainable and renewable energy sources, aligning with Switzerland’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
The transaction between Eolus and BKW was finalized in June 2023, with Eolus overseeing the construction through a Construction Management Agreement (CMA). This partnership ensures that the wind farms were completed efficiently and within budget. Additionally, Eolus will continue to provide technical, operational, and administrative services for these wind farms on a long-term basis.
The completion of these projects is a positive development for both private individuals and businesses in the region, offering access to renewable energy at reasonable prices. It also represents a broader commitment to sustainability and renewable energy solutions within Switzerland and beyond. This initiative by BKW is a testament to the growing importance of sustainable energy in today’s world.
