Sphaira Innovation has acquired Playmob, a London-based company specializing in market insights through video gaming. This acquisition brings Playmob together with Sphaira’s PlanetPlay, creating a new force in the gaming industry to combat climate change. Sphaira Innovation, based in Baar, Zug, runs PlanetPlay, the first marketplace for climate-conscious games. This digital non-profit platform lets players worldwide protect the climate through in-game purchases and gameplay.

Sphaira Innovation AG was founded in Baar in November 2021 as a not-for-profit company aiming for positive change. Its London subsidiary, Sphaira Innovation Ltd, now integrates Playmob into its operations.

The new partnership coincides with the launch of Sphaira’s PlanetPlay “Make Green Tuesday Moves” (MGTM) campaign. Starting June 4, PlanetPlay will introduce new “green” gaming items monthly, joining forces with leading gaming studios to make a real impact on climate change.

Playmob CEO Jude Ower becomes Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) of Sphaira in London. Ower has closely worked with PlanetPlay to launch the MGTM campaign. Alongside Rhea Loucas, CEO of PlanetPlay, Ower recently led a delegation to the UNDP’s Climate Promise event at the UN headquarters in New York.
