GraphEnergyTech Ltd, a Swiss start-up based in Lausanne, has raised GBP 1 million (USD 1.27 million/EUR 1.16 million) in its first equity funding round. The funding was led by the venture arm of Aramco, the Saudi Arabian Company.
GraphEnergyTech specializes in developing graphene electrodes for solar cells, aiming to replace silver and other precious metals without losing power conversion efficiency. This new technology could enhance the performance of future solar cells and has potential uses in batteries, supercapacitors, LED lighting, and displays.
The investment will help the company advance its graphene electrode technology. The company, co-founded by notable professors in solar and graphene technology, is also backed by Frontier IP Group plc, which now holds a 23.97% stake in the start-up following the funding round.
