Swiss dairy manufacturer Emmi has expanded its North American presence with a new processing facility in Stoughton, Wisconsin, operated by its American subsidiary, Emmi Roth. The facility aims to enhance Emmi’s standing in the US specialty cheese market and create new opportunities for Swiss imports, responding to increased processing needs following the acquisition of Athenos in 2021.

This strategic move enables Emmi to streamline internal processes by processing and packaging locally. This efficiency results in a 50% reduction in transport routes, leading to substantial CO2 savings. The plant, powered by electrical energy, aligns with Emmi’s sustainability goals.

Emmi Roth, the US subsidiary, officially unveiled the modern facility, emphasizing its commitment to sustainable conversion and packaging. With three production facilities in Wisconsin, Emmi Roth serves high-quality specialty products to nationwide retail and food service clients. This expansion enhances Emmi’s market agility and innovation capabilities, consolidating its position in the US specialty market. The new facility not only promotes sustainable practices but also contributes to Emmi’s netZERO 2050 target. Additionally, it has created 125 new ergonomic workspaces, emphasizing Emmi’s commitment to sustainability and operational efficiency.
